The most recent Student Summit for Sustainability was hosted by WSC-SD Regina in May 2008. The highly successful event brought together over 150 students from over 37 different countries to engage in discussions on “Socities of Tomorrow”. Student presentations were delivered in sectors of Urban Infrastructure, Energy & the Environment and Economic & Social Development, whilst a photo competition drew excellent submissions from delegates. A host of guest speakers broadened our understanding of sustainability and well directed workshops allowed us to engage with each other in new and interesting ways.
This week-long convention offered participants a great opportunity to freely interact and share the outcomes of their local initiatives and projects, discuss innovative concepts, form new local and international partnerships, participate in strategic planning activities of the WSC-SD, make new friends, have lots of fun and learn more about the many different and exciting cultures represented at the event. One major outcome of the event, year after year, has been the rich exchange of ideas and experiences on diverse issues relating to the vast topic of sustainable development.
This year’s summit was no exception. It was efficiently organised and participants were warmly welcomed by Emeka Okochi and his incredible organising team. The event was also a great deal of fun, through the sharing of cultures and celebration of our diversity. We enjoyed interesting fieldtrips, such as to the Craik Eco-Living Centre or to the town of Moosejaw.
Thank you WSC-SD Regina for an excellent summit!
